Welcome to Aligned Orthodontics

We are delighted to welcome you to our practice. This pack will guide you through what to expect at your first visit, the treatment options available, and the differences between NHS and private orthodontic care.

Your Initial Consultation

At your first appointment, we will:

Discuss your concerns and goals for your smile

Carry out a clinical assessment

Explain what treatment options are available to you

Talk through NHS eligibility and private options.

NHS Treatment

Orthodontic treatment on the NHS is available for patients under 18 years of age, but only if their dental health and orthodontic need meet strict national criteria (measured by the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need, IOTN).

👉 If you do not qualify for NHS treatment, don’t worry, we offer a range of private treatment options to suit your needs.

Private Treatment Options

Private orthodontic care is available for both adults and children. Choosing private treatment gives you access to:

A wider choice of brace types (including more discreet options)

Flexible appointment times

No restrictions based on NHS eligibility

Brace Options: Prices and Comparisons

1. Metal Fixed Braces (Traditional Braces)

💷 £3,800 for both arches or FREE if you qualify for orthodontic treatment through the NHS

Pros:

Most affordable option, very effective for all types of orthodontic cases, NHS standard option for those who qualify

Cons:

Most visible brace type, can sometimes cause mild irritation to lips/cheeks, can be broken when eating hard or crunchy foods, needs excellent oral hygine, visible.

2. Ceramic (Tooth-Coloured) Braces

💷 £4,500 for both arches

Pros:

Tooth-coloured brackets blend in with your teeth, discreet compared to metal braces, just as effective as traditional braces

Cons:

More expensive than metal braces, elastics can stain if eating certain food types such as curries or tomato based sauces, can sometimes cause mild irritation to lips/cheeks, can be broken when eating hard or crunchy foods, needs excellent oral hygine.

3. Clear Aligners

💷 From £3,300 – £4,500 for both arches

Pros:

Virtually invisible, removable for eating, brushing, and special occasions, comfortable and easy to keep clean

Cons:

Requires discipline, must be worn 20–22 hours a day

4. Lingual Braces (Hidden Braces)

💷  £7,995 for both arches

Pros:

Fixed to the inside surface of teeth, completely hidden, effective for a wide range of cases

Cons:

Highest cost option, may take longer to get used to with speech and comfort

Next Steps

We’re here to support you in choosing the treatment that’s right for you. At your consultation, we’ll give you a personalised treatment plan, confirm costs, and answer any questions.

Whether you’re being seen through the NHS or privately, our goal at Aligned Orthodontics is the same: to help you achieve a healthy, confident smile.
