The orthodontist checks if your teeth are in their final positions and if treatment is complete.
- Bracket and Wire Removal
- A special tool is used to gently squeeze and break the adhesive that holds the brackets to your teeth.
- Wires and brackets are removed carefully, you will just feel pressure.
- Adhesive Cleanup
- The remaining glue is polished off using a tool called a handpiece.
- This may create a slight grinding sensation but does not usually hurt.
- Final Check
- Your teeth are examined for any remaining glue.
- A scan is taken and sent to the dental lab to prepare retainers.
- Retainers Are Provided
- You will receive a retainer to wear as instructed to keep your teeth from shifting.
❌ Never Try to Remove Braces Yourself!
- Risks include:
- Cracked or chipped teeth
- Enamel damage
- Gum injury
- Teeth shifting back
⏱️ How Long Does It Take?
- About 30–60 minutes, depending on how many brackets you have.
